Lasse Schöne is back, and so is our collaboration with him. We sat down with Lasse to talk about how it all started, why our second collection together is even more personal, and an interest in fashion that goes all the way back to his childhood bedroom.
HOW IT ALL STARTED
Yes, it actually started when you sent some things to my home. The style wasn't quite mine, and the shirts weren't what I would normally wear. But I could of course feel the quality and the idea behind it. Then at our first meeting, we came to the conclusion that it could be great to make something together.
You said I should make my own thing. We would make it together, but it couldn't be something you had already made. It had to be my own style and my own thing, and I thought that was super cool and interesting. The same quality, but a bit more in the fashion direction. We clicked incredibly well from the first meeting, and now here we are, two collections later, still chatting away.

The process itself has been incredible. I've learned a lot about clothes and materials. The way we've done it has felt so much like friends and family. Of course it has also been professional, but the whole process has been, to use a good Danish word, hyggeligt to be part of.
This is a collection that suits me even better than the first one. Take the pants, for example, where we've turned up the quality a bit. I took inspiration from my own wardrobe, because it has to be things I can wear every day. Pants you can wear seven times a week, because they just look great and fit well. They come out of the washing machine just as good as when you put them in.

Yes, I've actually always been interested in fashion. When I was young and wanted to wear baggy pants, I'd take my dad's trousers and pull the belt tight. And in my parents' utility room, I remade a pair of jeans with a bit of water and bleach, so they got that white colour and those patterns where the fabric had been scrunched together. I think I was 12 or 13. I cut my clothes the way I wanted them, so even at a pretty young age, I was really into it.

I've never really looked at others, and I take inspiration wherever it comes from. I was a skater for many years and think it's a great culture. I still had a bit of that with me when I moved here at 16. I often got comments because I wore different clothes than the boys in the dressing room in Holland.
Denmark has a lot of great clothing brands, and we're also big in furniture and design. Maybe we're a bit further ahead with fashion in Denmark than they are in Holland. Or at least we were.
But Amsterdam is also just a city with so many different styles. You can be who you are, and anything goes, no matter how you look or what you wear. It's incredibly cool. There are so many people walking around in whatever clothes they want that you can get so much inspiration just sitting in a café watching people.
